Move into Balance

(through the seasons)

An opportunity to deep dive into your being and the beauty of nature

Helping you make time and space for YOU and find self-trust, motivation, focus and energy to be your most joyful creative and productive self throughout 2023 and beyond!

Treat yourself to some time to fully connect and engage with yourself in a structured, supportive, non-judgmental manner and in the beauty of nature, so that you can find new motivation, focus, energy and creativity in your everyday life.

Move into balance

Let’s be honest. Life gets busy and getting the balance right between doing and resting, focusing on others and ourselves is no easy task.

Time feels like a scarce resource and with everything there is to do it is easy to put ourselves and our well-being at the bottom of the to-do-list.

And yet, you know what you need – just a little more balance. Your body is calling out for some attention, either through those niggles and pains, or general lack of energy, motivation or creativity.

But making time for yourself and sticking to it is easier said than done.

I am Gillian, Somatic Coach and Dance Movement Therapist. I know what being off balance feels like. I have been there (and occasionally still am…with three children, work and researching for a PhD there is lots to juggle).

Yet, I have found that by having a regular, held, non-judgmental space where you can just be, whilst also being playful and curious you get to discover you.

By connecting to the natural world, the seasons and elements, big and small metaphors can be identified, reflected upon and experimented with in your day-to-day life.

Having space to explore and reflect upon your thoughts, feelings and movement patterns allows you to gently change or break patterns that no longer serve you and that are zapping you of trust in yourself, motivation, energy and focus.

You emerge from each ‘season day’ being kinder to yourself and finding yourself in the ‘flow state’ more frequently. It is quite a wonderful state to be and operate in.

What does the Move into Balance (through the seasons) entail?

Move into Balance (through the seasons) is designed for you to have a space and time to deeply connect to yourself in a light-hearted, embodied manner. You get to explore your patterns, your connection to the season and the elements – all through movement (no need to think!), for part of it in and amongst nature, in beautiful locations around the Brecon Beacons, Wales and Herefordshire, England.

You get to be playful with space, time, flow and weight, connect to your inner child and more and experiment what new patterns would feel like to you.

By embodying the elements, metaphors drawn from the natural world and movement theories, as well as going on journeys deep into your body and exploring your physicality, you can unearth any patterns that are stuck in your body that influence your mindset and hold you back in everyday life and drain you of motivation, focus and energy.

Each ‘season day’ will take place in a different location around Powys or the Welsh borders and will include (weather permitting)  a beautiful exploration of the environment through movement, with meditative and playful exercises along the way,  suitable to the season and the focus of the day. Metaphors drawn from the exploration will be brought back to share with the group and followed by further embodied explorations and a movement meditation. You uncover any patterns and blocks that are keeping you off balance and with your reflections, group discussions and tasks set to explore in between each season day, you discover ways to gently move into balance.

But there is more. As a mover of Move into Balance (through the seasons) you will also have access to:

  •  Links to Movement Meditations used in the sessions (perfect if you would like to revisit a movement meditation from a session, or if you can’t make a session) for the duration of the course
  • Links to Playlists
  • You will also have access to me on a 1:1 basis (either for regular sessions or one-off) at a much reduced price.

The four ‘Season days’ include:

Winter - Creating and exploring space

Winter is all about stillness and introspection. So, during this Winter season day you will look inwards and allow ‘you’ to be the center of ‘you’ again. The day is all about creating space for yourself, getting out of your head and into your body. It is about sensing and connecting with yourself – learning to listen to your body without judgment and with trust.

In addition to deeply connecting and moving your body in and through a beautiful landscape, you will reflect on your embodied experience and have new found awareness and inner wisdom that you can draw upon.

By the end of the day you will have a clear sense of your body and strategies to experiment with to help you quieten the mind chatter, stop any sense of overwhelm and give you a sense of hope and direction for the year ahead.

Spring - Finding Energy and Flow

As we move into spring, the Earth, after the stillness, is coming alive again and we will focus on movement, energy and flow.

This spring day will feel like a spring clean for your body and mind. You will have the opportunity to release, make gentle changes and say farewell to tension and blocks that are keeping you stuck from using your creativity to its full potential.

By the end of the day, energy will be flowing and a sense of excitement for what is possible, takes over from lack of motivation and any fractured, uncomfortable and struggling relationship you have with your creativity.

Summer - Energy and Flow in times of change

With the heat of the summer, the long days and short nights, you will be reminded that there is hope in the world, that you – your energy, your creativity, your voice can inspire others.

You will really get moving, as you explore the concept of time, chaos and change during the summer ‘season day’. You will use the energy and flow found in spring and playfully explore these in more depth – be prepared to giggle and laugh!

By the end of the session you will have an understanding of how you can tap into your creative energy faster, how to sustain your energy, especially in times of change, transition and when things are topsy-turvy!

Autumn - Moving joyfully in balance

In Autumn you will reap the fruit of the changes you have experimented with throughout the year.

You will recognize the journey you have been on and the subtle and not so subtle changes you have made along the way and you will celebrate and move joyfully.

You will create your own ‘first aid kit’ to ensure that you don’t fall into old energy zapping patterns.

You will leave the final ‘season day’ with clarity, energy and focus, as well as your very own ‘work-life-creativity-self-care balance’ for the future.

Testimonials

It has been wonderful to be observed as there are movement patterns that I haven’t noticed in myself. It has been helpful to have them highlighted. The sessions are beautifully and simply held. It has been very enriching!
